Cathedral of Lima: It is the most important church of the City of Kings. Built in 1538, it holds the remains of Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro, as well as breathtaking works of art and metallurgy.
Church of San Pedro: Built by the jesuit priests and brothers, it contains altars beautifully decorated in gold leaf, the remains of martyrs and viceroys, as well as priceless paintings and figures of virgins and saints.
Church of Santo Domingo: it is the oldest church, also known as the Basilica of Peruvian Saints, as it contains the remains of Santa Rosa de Lima, San Martín de Porres, y San Juan Macías.
San Agustín Church: its facade is a classic example of the baroque arquitectural style Churrigueresque, overloaded with ornaments carved in stone. In its niches, one can see images of Saint Augustine.
Church of the Nazarenes: In 1651, a black slave from Angola painted the image of a crucified Christ on a shed´s wall. Four years later, an earthquake destroyed the city and this was the only wall that remained standing. During the month of October, the festivity of this Christ, known as the Lord of Miracles, is celebrated.
